Information for Schools on Specialist Provisions Support

Find out about the support available to educational settings.

Support Available

  • Link Support (available to new settings)

Each setting will be allocated an Advisory Teacher as a point of contact with the team for support, signposting and advice.

  • Universal Support (available to all settings)

Universal programmes have been intentionally designed to build the capacity of all settings to meet the needs of children and young people with increasing confidence and skill. This is done through training and capacity building.

  • Targeted Support (Professional Learning & Development available for all settings)

Targeted support programmes are aimed at setting staff, parents/carers and children and young people to ensure they receive high quality provision and educational experiences from setting staff. This involves capacity building of staff and parents to meet individual needs, in partnership with other EA services and other outside agencies. SSST have a range of targeted professional learning development programmes available for all settings, across all phases (Early Years, Primary and Post Primary), designed to support settings with curriculum and assessment, quality of provision, staff development and leadership. Further targeted advice, support and guidance is also available for new settings via their Link Advisory Teacher.

  • Specialist Support (available to new settings)

Short term specialist support for staff, parents and children and young people in new settings aims to build upon the foundations developed in schools through both teacher professional learning and targeted support. Intensive support focuses on developing staff skills to support individual children and young people’s needs.
