Support Available from the SEND Local Impact Teams

Find out more about the support available for your child or young person.

The SEND Local Impact Teams provide tailored support to children, young people, and their schools. Support is offered as early as possible and is based on the needs identified by the school and the Moderation Panel. After reviewing each Request for Involvement (RFI), the team will select the most appropriate Pathway of Support.

Pathway 1: Early Advice and Guidance

Pathway 1 focuses on supporting the team around the child or young person. It offers early help, practical guidance, and access to professional learning.

Support may include:

  • Consultation with school staff to explore and better understand the child’s needs
  • Early, targeted advice and guidance for teachers and practitioners.
  • Advice and support for parents and carers.
  • Professional development opportunities for school staff.
  • Help with SEND planning (e.g., Personal Learning Plans (PLP) / Individual Education Plans (IEP), SBEW Plans, CALM Plans, Risk Reduction Action Plans).
  • Teacher forums and drop-in clinics with themed learning sessions.
  • Signposting to relevant training and resources.

Pathway 2: Partnered Support

Pathway 2 provides more targeted advisory support for a specific child, young person, or group. This involves closer collaboration between the SEND Local Impact Team and the school.

Support may include:

  • Observation, consultation, and tailored advice.
  • Formal or informal assessment.
  • Modelling strategies or approaches with the child/young person and school staff
  • Targeted training for staff and parents.
  • Access to the Solution Focused Hub.
  • Advisory support for transitions.
  • Pupil voice discussions.
  • In class and wholeschool support.
  • Collaboration with other professionals already involved.

Pathway 3: Intensive Support

Pathway 3 focuses on more intensive, short-term support for a named child or young person. This may be delivered onetoone or in a group.

Support may include:

  • Short periods of focused intervention.
  • Joint action plans developed and reviewed with the school.
  • Multidisciplinary consultation and support.
  • Direct transition support for the child or young person.

Please Note

This list is not exhaustive. Pathways follow a tiered approach, ensuring that support is matched carefully to the child’s needs and the information provided by the school.
